Ocean observing
PCRP is fortunate to work with the Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System (PacIOOS) as their Liaison for ocean observation, data services, and forecasting tools in the Northern Mariana Islands. PCRP, alongside a network of island organizations from Palau to Pohnpei, work to extend ocean data and technology in ways that are locally engaging, ensuring the community isn’t just an end-user of science, but rather a part of the scientific process itself.
Backyard Buoys
PCRP, in collaboration with 500 Sails and PacIOOS, participate in the Backyard Buoys Program, deploying and stewarding two Spotter wave buoys and a “smart mooring” in CNMI.
